A walk around Bywater Pool

A pond located north of the town with the same name. From the films the water lies between Hobbiton and the Green Dragon.

This pool has been one of the least favorite tasks of the project. Having to excavate the entire thing by hand was a little too tedious and I had to do it in small chunks over a few months. But in the end it was all worth it!

Bywater Road - 90% complete

+Develop other side of road

A prominent road that ran through the Shire connecting Little Delving, Bywater, and lead to Hobbiton.

Hobbiton Road - 95% complete

The stretch of road leading into Hobbiton lined with trees.

Added a few points of interest on the walk back to Hobbiton. A camp site, a couple docks, a garden, wishing well, and other little things to discover on your walk.

Marshes - 100% complete

Pool Side for a quick dip:

As I head back over the pool I would alternate between working on the Smials, the Party Tree, and the surrounding context building up layers of detail.

Smial 29 - 100% complete

The first in a row of smials that sat on the edge of Bywater pond.

Last of the pool side smials that face the pond.

A handy storage wing with exterior access to store tools and supplies.

Smial 34 - 100% complete

One of only a couple smials with doors that are squared off. Perhaps a rare traveling Hobbit was influence by some of the buildings of man?
